I sat alone on a hilltop vale, watching the sky turn dark,
And the moon creep over the ridge,
When from the trees came a creature so frightful, so flighty,
All dressed in earthy brown smudged.
For a moment it paused, so weary of the creature of me,
It feared what I was, understandably.
After a moment, it looked away and grazed its fill,
All the while, I sat to see.
When its time was done, off it ran into deep forest,
Whether to live its life or feed another's,
And I realized why it took so long for it to accept myself.
Mistook for my kinsman brothers,
The poor animal knew not what I was to do.
Was I to hunt it for game or food,
Or to burn its homes for the comfort of my own?
In a way, it was a creature so shrewd,
Deducing the path of which I walked seperate of others'.
But still, how could it possibly find any comfort,
To eat within my inherited dark air,
And what will overtook it that it decided, for once,
Not to flee form mine, rightfully scared?
